Couple Donates $160 Million to Help Build a New Municipal Hospital

crazynews
On February 3, the city of Takarazuka, Hyogo Prefecture, announced that a local couple had donated approximately $160 million. The donation is intended to help build a new municipal hospital and purchase medical equipment.

The donors, Mr. and Mrs. Okamoto, longtime residents of Takarazuka, were inspired by their volunteer experiences during the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. This experience made them realize the importance of community welfare, leading them to establish a foundation and contribute to improving social welfare in their community.

Mr. Okamoto was one of the founding members of Keyence, a well-known Japanese company, and has accumulated significant wealth. He earned over $6 million a year just from stock dividends.

The city of Takarazuka plans to set aside ¥25 billion from the donation for future needs.

I wish they’d just give me 1% of their fortune.
Even with this much money, I bet it’s still not enough to build a hospital.
The rich keep getting richer—that’s capitalism.
No wonder he’s loaded—he was a Keyence founder!
