According to the Ichikawa City Board of Education in Chiba Prefecture, at approximately 12:20 p.m. on January 22, an elementary school student discovered a smartphone in recording mode in an elementary school locker room and reported it to staff.
A male teacher in his 30s admitted that the phone was his. However, about an hour later, when questioned by the principal and other school officials, he later stated, "I don’t recall placing it there." The school confiscated the phone and told him it would be submitted to the prefectural police.
The next morning, on January 23, the teacher's family contacted the school, saying he had not returned home since the previous day. The teacher did not show up for work, and on January 25, his family reported his death.
The Ichikawa City Board of Education stated that they believe the school handled the situation appropriately.

His actions and decisions were way too extreme.
He solved his own crime faster than anyone could.
Maybe he couldn’t handle the fact that he’d never be able to do this again.
