Study Finds That Eating Pasta Doesn’t Lead to Weight Gain

crazynews
A Canadian study published in the journal BMJ Open has found that pasta, which has a low glycemic index (GI), does not cause weight gain. In fact, it may even aid in weight loss. Foods with a low GI cause a slower rise in blood sugar levels and lower insulin secretion, making them less likely to contribute to weight gain.

The study involved about 2,500 participants who followed a low-GI diet, with pasta as the primary source of carbohydrates. After three months, their average weight decreased by 0.5 kg. Pasta has a lower GI compared to other carbohydrates and helps keep people feeling full, which can prevent overeating.

However, the study also noted that adding excessive amounts of oil or sugar to pasta should be avoided.

But in the end, we end up putting high-calorie pasta sauce on it, right?
I eat pasta as my main food, but I’m still pretty overweight.
Pasta without oil isn’t really pasta, is it?
