A trial took place in the UK, where a 25-year-old woman pleaded guilty to sending multiple "cyber fart" videos to her ex-boyfriend, causing him distress and anxiety. This case, which has come to be known as the "cyber fart" case, was reported on the 29th by the UK's Metro newspaper.
Rhiannon Evans, 25, was charged with "malicious communications" after sending inappropriate fart videos to her ex, Deborah Preezer. Evans' actions were said to have caused emotional distress, and she appeared in a magistrate's court in Caernarfon, North Wales.
Prosecutor Diane Williams explained, "In the first video, she filmed herself farting by placing the camera on her backside."
Evans sent three videos on December 22 last year, showing her acting in a silly or outrageous manner, and followed up with four more similar videos over the next few days. In each of these videos, Evans is seen laughing as she passes gas while facing the camera.
Despite being warned by the police, Evans continued to send the videos on December 26 and January 1. She was later arrested and admitted to sending the videos when questioned by the police.
The prosecutor told the court, "She wanted to send the videos because she felt mistreated. This was a completely malicious act. She smiled throughout and seemed to think it was funny, but the victim did not find it amusing."
This case is considered the first legal action involving "cyber farts" in the UK, and possibly the world. Evans was reported to have mental health issues.
The judge sentenced Evans to 15 rehabilitation sessions, a 60-day ban on alcohol, and a two-year restraining order against the victim. She was also ordered to pay £100 in compensation and £199 in costs.

Is this some kind of reward?
I can’t comment until I watch the reference videos.
I had no idea courts could order people to stop drinking or go to rehab.
