A 30-year-old paramedic from the Kobe City Fire Department has been arrested for stealing a credit card from an injured person's wallet at an emergency scene and using it to pay for a meal with his family.
The suspect, an employee of the Nada Fire Station, was arrested on suspicion of computer fraud. Authorities allege that in September last year, he used the stolen credit card at a restaurant in Kobe, spending approximately 5,700 yen on a meal with his family. Police believe he had stolen the card earlier while responding to the emergency.
The crime was discovered when the victim’s son noticed credit card transactions despite their hospitalized parent being unable to use it. He reported the suspicious activity to the police, leading to an investigation. Security camera footage and other evidence led to the identification of the paramedic as the suspect.
During questioning, the suspect admitted, "I stole the credit card from the patient's wallet at the scene and used it to pay for a meal." Further investigations revealed that the stolen card had been used multiple times, and police are now looking into additional offenses.

I feel bad for his family—they had no idea they were eating with stolen money.
Dude was way too greedy for a reward after saving someone.
