A humpback whale briefly swallowed a kayaker off the coast of Patagonia, Chile, in a shocking encounter.
Adrián Simancas was paddling with his father, Del Simancas, when a massive whale suddenly surfaced and engulfed Adrián—yellow kayak and all. However, just seconds later, the whale expelled him, leaving him completely unharmed.
His father, who was only a few meters away, captured the entire incident on video while urging his son to stay calm.
"I thought I had been eaten and completely swallowed by the whale," Adrián recalled.
Initially terrified and fearing for his life, he later speculated that the whale may have approached out of curiosity rather than aggression.
