UK telecom provider Virgin Media O2 has introduced an AI tool designed to keep scammers on the phone longer, called “AI Grandma.” The AI, named “Daisy,” has been trained using scam calls and can intelligently respond to waste scammers' time. She keeps scammers engaged with phrases like, “Oh no, my screen just went black,” or “Oh dear, are you getting frustrated?” to keep the conversation going as long as possible.
Virgin Media O2 collaborated with YouTuber Jim Browning, known for exposing scammers, to list Daisy’s phone number on websites that scammers often use to find victims. As a result, scammers began calling Daisy within days, with some staying on the line for up to 40 minutes.
The Guardian has published audio recordings of Daisy interacting with scammers on YouTube. However, Virgin Media O2 stated that this is only a temporary project with no plans for a wider release.

Just chatting with it sounds fun!
Scammers might start using AI to fight back.
My grandma would make a great sample for this.
