On March 2, 2025, smartphone manufacturer HMD unveiled the world’s first wireless earbuds, the "HMD Amped Buds," with a 1,600mAh reverse wireless charging case that can charge smartphones.
The HMD Amped Buds offer high-quality sound, active noise cancellation (ANC), and electronic noise cancellation (ENC). The charging case doubles as a portable battery, allowing users to wirelessly charge smartphones like the HMD Skyline or iPhone.
With a 1,600mAh battery capacity, the case can charge an iPhone 16 from 0% to approximately 20% when attached to the back of the device. The HMD Amped Buds are priced at €199.
The Verge described the product as a "smart concept," stating, "By carrying your earbuds as usual, you’ll have a backup battery for your smartphone when needed, without adopting a new habit."
Viewer Comments:
The battery capacity is a bit low, but it’s still useful as a backup.
I’d be worried about it falling off when it’s attached to the back.
Items like this often have one feature that’s not quite up to par, making it hard to justify the purchase.
