Developer Creates Pong Game Using 240 Browser Tabs

crazynews
An independent developer has created a unique system that turns 240 browser tabs into a game screen by using favicons—the small icons displayed on each tab. The project, called "Faviconic," runs a recreation of the classic Pong game on macOS and has gained attention online for its unusual design.

The game replicates Pong, the iconic arcade game released by Atari in 1972. In Pong, two players control paddles (white bars) to bounce a ball back and forth, similar to table tennis or air hockey.

Faviconic allows players to experience a Pong-style game through browser tabs, with each tab updating in real time to simulate movement. It was developed by Nolen Royalty (eieio), an independent creator known for his experimental game projects. The tool is designed to work on macOS, and Royalty has shared a demonstration of the game and the development process on his website.

This is a brilliant waste of talent.
I’m pretty sure both the “Pong” and “Safari” creators would be proud.
Tetris next, right?
