Reports have emerged that Facebook has banned posts related to various Linux topics, sites, and groups. Since January 19, 2025, many Linux-related posts have been removed, with reports of accounts being locked for sharing Linux-related content.
A writer from DistroWatch filed an appeal against the ban after receiving feedback from the community. However, Facebook representatives responded by stating that "Linux topics will continue to be flagged by the security filter."
Ironically, Facebook operates much of its infrastructure on Linux and frequently posts job listings for Linux developers. While the criteria Facebook uses to censor posts remain unclear, it may take some time before they acknowledge any mistakes.
Added:Facebook has now acknowledged the mistake and fixed the issue.
Viewer Comments:
They’ve made enemies of engineers worldwide.
If Linux is so bad, maybe they should stop using it themselves.
Maybe one of their engineers is just taking out frustration from failing a certification exam.
