Even Small Amounts of Alcohol Can Lower Sleep Quality

crazynews
A study by researchers from Australian Catholic University found that even small amounts of alcohol can disrupt sleep. The study found that consuming less than 0.50g of alcohol per kilogram of body weight delays the onset of REM sleep and shortens its duration.

Conversely, consuming more than 0.85g per kilogram may make it easier to fall asleep but significantly disrupts REM sleep later on. This suggests that using alcohol as a sleep aid is likely to reduce overall sleep quality.

The study did not find consistent effects on total sleep duration or efficiency, but it concluded that the short-term sedative effects of alcohol are outweighed by its overall negative impact on sleep.

I get drink a lot every night and still wake up feeling great.
Looks like they just proved what we all kind of knew.
I can’t fall asleep without alcohol, so I guess it all evens out.
