Exclusive Funeral Noodles in China Become So Popular, People Pretend to Be Mourners to Get a Taste

crazynews
In Guizhou Province, China, a funeral home has gained unexpected fame for its delicious suanlatang mifen (hot and sour rice noodles). Originally intended only for the relatives and friends of the deceased, the dish has become so popular that food lovers are pretending to be mourners just to get a bowl, leading to long lines outside the funeral home.

On February 17th, a social media user shared their experience of eating the noodles at Erlong Funeral Home in Guizhou. "My mother told me they were delicious. At first, I hesitated because it’s quite far from the city, but once I tried the suanlatang mifen, it was absolutely worth it," the user wrote. The post quickly went viral, and now the funeral home sees long lines every day. Comments on social media describe the dish as "a taste from the underworld" and "truly delicious."

Originally, the noodles were meant only for funeral attendees, who could buy a bowl for 10 yuan using special tickets. The dish comes with four types of toppings: minced pork, spicy chicken, crispy fried chicken skin, and pig’s feet.

Due to overwhelming demand from curious visitors and the difficulty of verifying their relationship with the deceased, the funeral home now offers 50 free bowls per day to avoid disrupting the ceremonies. The noodles are so popular that people wait in line for about an hour to get a taste.

You can taste the flavor of the underworld without going far—amazing!
If they’re giving it away for free, I bet some people come every day.
I feel like it would be pretty easy to spot someone pretending to be a mourner.
