Over 10,000 Foreigners Reportedly Held Captive at Scam Centers in Myanmar

crazynews
More than 10,000 foreigners are reportedly being held captive by criminal organizations in Myanmar’s border region. As of February 18, over 1,200 people have been rescued from scam operations located near the Thai border.

The victims were forced to participate in fraudulent activities, including making phone calls while posing as police officers to trick people into transferring money.

Those who were freed described the brutal conditions they endured:
"I was electrocuted every day. They also beat me. We were forced to work 18 hours a day and weren’t allowed to contact our families."
"They told us, 'Myanmar has the largest organ trafficking market. If you refuse to work, we’ll sell your organs.'"

In response to the situation, several countries are working with Thai authorities to secure the repatriation of their citizens.

Viewer Comments:
I can’t believe the organization is this massive—it’s a whole city.
At this scale, you’d think the military should step in.
Reality is stranger than fiction…
