U.S. Agriculture Secretary Criticized for Suggesting Backyard Chicken to Combat Egg Prices

crazynews
U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins faced public backlash after suggesting that raising chickens in backyards could help address rising egg prices. Rollins had previously proposed supporting households in raising chickens as a way to lower egg costs.

Egg prices in the U.S. have surged due to a bird flu outbreak, which has led to the culling of millions of chickens. In some areas, a dozen eggs now cost more than $10.

During an interview on Fox News, Rollins mentioned her own experience raising chickens and said, "You can raise chickens in your backyard."

In an op-ed for 'The Wall Street Journal', Rollins announced a plan to invest up to $1 billion to stabilize egg prices. This plan includes increasing egg imports, easing regulations on poultry farms, and encouraging people to raise chickens at home.

However, many Americans reacted with skepticism. Social media and YouTube comments questioned the practicality of the idea, with concerns such as, "What if I don't have a backyard?" and "What if the chickens get sick?"

She should be the first to raise chickens—she probably earns a high salary.
This must be the best joke she could come up with after thinking all night.
If you only raise a few chickens, the cost of feed and upkeep will probably be higher than just buying eggs.
