A snack resembling Charizard, a popular character from the "Pokémon" franchise, sold for $87,840 at an auction conducted by the company Goldin.
Goldin revealed that the buyer remains anonymous. The snack, shaped like Charizard, is 7 cm long and is affixed to a Pokémon card featuring Charizard's signature move. It is also packaged in a box.
According to Goldin's website, the snack was discovered and preserved by a company specializing in sports memorabilia between 2018 and 2022. Its popularity skyrocketed on social media last year.
Goldin also reported that the final price, including a buyer's premium, was $72,000. The bidding started at $250 in mid-February, but the price quickly surged into five figures. Once the buyer’s premium was added, the final cost came to $87,840.
Charizard, a large, orange dragon, is one of the most beloved Pokémon characters. It ranked among the top ten most popular characters in a 2020 survey.

I think it’s hard to tell how much it resembles Charizard without the card behind it.
Charizard is also popular in card form. The appeal of Pokémon is truly amazing.
It does look similar, but I definitely wouldn’t spend that much money on it.
